I’m launching candle anointing oils and I’m very excited to be bringing these to you!
I decided this for a few reasons.
I love working with intentions and I love working with herbs and flowers.
It’s Summer time! And in the summer when everything is blooming this is when I harvest and dry the flowers and herbs. And because I live in a hot climate it works beautifully to make oil infusions.
Some of you know me from my floral body oils. They are infusing now as I type! The way oil infusions work is that you place the dry matter into a jar, cover it with oil- I use organic Avocado or Olive and you keep this in a warm dark place for weeks. How you help infuse them with your own magick is up to you- I work with the properties of the flower or herb I’m using along with Moon cycles, astrology and Reiki.
There are plenty of recipes online from different herbalists on how to do this, I got my recipe from April of, She is of the Woods. I urge you to find someone you click with if you are interested in making your own infusions! Once the infusions are ready you pull and drain them. They will smell like the oil they were infused in. My body oils smell like the flower they were infused in because I use essential oil.
Now- April vehemently despises essential oils- but I like them- I’ve seen people change their lives when using them so I use them. And this is where as people we have to gather our information and use discernment to create what you believe in.
One of the reasons she dislikes essential oils so much is because the Avocado or Olive or whatever oil you use can go rancid- you will know an oil is rancid because it will smell rancid. I’ve been infusing oils since 2019/2020 and I’ve never had an oil go rancid.
I have tried to work with fresh flowers and have had the oil mold and had to throw the entire batch out but I’ve never had an oil get old and go rancid. So one of the reasons she dislikes essential oil is that it (she claims) can be used to mask rancid oils that are then sold to the public. This is not going to be up for debate on this page and she believes this and this is good knowledge for me to take into consideration when packaging my body oils- so I like for the body oils to sell within 6 months of making them, just to be on the safe side!
So use up the oil, friends! Don’t let them sit! You want to work and be infused with the love that goes into making the oil! lol!
So the candle anointing oil will just smell like the oil the herbs and flowers are infused in. You can use the oil in ritual, candle workings and magickal uses. It is not recommended to be used on the skin, unlike the body oils that are made specifically for that use.
